Engineered cementitious composite is a special concrete product, originally developed for large scale construction such as bridges, dams and high rise buildings. By adding a polymer and specific fibres to a sand and cement mix, ECC will flex at an astonishing rate, drastically reducing the chance of cracking.
By utilising ECC in our applications, we can pour large pieces such as benchtops 20mm thick with a dropped edge to create a thick look while reducing excess product weight.
Our ECC mix is hand packed and trowel finished, leaving a true to traditional concrete look, while being stronger, lighter and more dense than truck concrete.
In many applications we choose to use a more traditional concrete mix, designed specifically for architectural finishes.
Using a higher MPA strength and steel reinforcement design, we can create concrete that redefines what the product can achieve.
Large unsupported areas such as cantilevers in outdoor kitchens lend themselves to traditional concrete as well as fire hearths, feature walls and many other large scale architectural concrete.
With years of experience in both ECC and traditional, we are happy to discuss the best option for any application.

sealers and care
All our concrete is sealed using a high end specific sealer.
Over the last decade concrete has taken on many new rolls in the home, meaning sealers have needed to keep up with these applications.
We use and recommend hybrid polyurethane sealers designed for kitchen applications. These sealers are applied over 4 coats to a kitchen benchtop, The first coat is highly diluted to fully penetrate the concrete with less dilution rates on further coats to leave microfine layers of protection. Most clients choose a natural matte finish although a semi gloss finish is also available.
The sealer offers maximum protection from staining while being completely food safe.
We offer a care guide to all our clients to help maintain the natural beauty of our concrete products for years to come.
